Johan Ackermann, who recently took over as the Bulls` head coach following the departure of Jake White, has so far struggled to stabilize the performance of his new side. The Bulls currently occupy a disappointing tenth position in the United Rugby Championship (URC) standings, having managed only three victories across seven rounds. Adding to their woes, the South African franchise has also suffered two defeats in the Champions Cup tournament.

In response to these struggles and following the dismissal of two assistant coaches inherited from the previous Jake White era, Johan Ackermann formally requested professional support from Rassie Erasmus’s national team setup. The Springboks head coach agreed to assist his colleague by delegating several key figures: Felix Jones, Jerry Flannery, Duane Vermeulen, and Andy Edwards to join the Bulls` coaching staff.

These specialists, who are presently free from their international commitments, have reportedly signed short-term contracts with the franchise to provide immediate expertise and support.
