The United Rugby Championship (URC) Round 2 match between Edinburgh and Ulster has been officially postponed due to the imminent arrival of Storm Amy. Initially, organizers attempted to adapt to the adverse weather forecast, announcing on Thursday that the game would commence an hour earlier to mitigate the impact of the severe conditions, with safety as the primary concern.
However, a further deterioration of the weather prediction overnight left event organizers with no choice but to fully reschedule the encounter. On Friday morning, it was formally confirmed that the strong storm-force winds and torrential rains, expected throughout Friday and Saturday in the region, would make holding the match impossible. Despite Edinburgh Rugby anticipating a sold-out crowd, the overriding priority remained the safety and well-being of all involved: fans, players, partners, and event staff.
