The supervisory board of the Biarritz rugby club has faced significant resignations, with four members, including Sean Hegarty, stepping down from their positions. The primary reason cited was profound disagreement with the actions and policies of the club`s leadership. In solidarity with Hegarty, Marc Bage, Pierre Freiderich, Marie-Baptiste Dhuard, and Arnaud Labedan also tendered their resignations. A general meeting of the club is expected soon to approve a new supervisory board and implement necessary changes to the statutes.
These departures occur amid a challenging period for Biarritz`s sporting performance. After being relegated from Top 14 in the 2021-2022 season, the club has not managed to climb higher than ninth place in Pro D2. The current season continues to be difficult, with the team holding a disappointing 14th position in the league standings, having secured only seven points from six matches.
