A new, cutting-edge sports arena is set to become a significant hub for rugby players and enthusiasts throughout the capital, promising to invigorate the sport within the city.

The company DeloSport, in collaboration with the Russian Rugby Federation, has officially inaugurated a specialized rugby stadium located in the picturesque Fili Park. This event marks the crucial initial phase of an ambitious project aimed at establishing a comprehensive sports cluster in the area, designed to nurture athletic talent and community engagement.

The newly opened stadium boasts a state-of-the-art artificial pitch, measuring 120 by 80 meters, complemented by comfortable spectator stands capable of accommodating 704 people. These features make it an ideal venue for hosting high-profile matches, including those of the PARI Premier League and the Moscow Championship. Its strategic location near the Moskva River embankment and convenient access via the Pionerskaya and Filiovsky Park metro stations ensures easy accessibility for both participants and spectators, enhancing its role as a community sports asset.

Looking ahead, this facility is envisioned as an integral part of a much larger sports cluster. Future plans for this cluster include the development of a multi-purpose complex, complete with a 5,000-seat arena, specifically designed to host handball and various other team sports, further diversifying Moscow`s sporting landscape.

Igor Artemyev, President of the Russian Rugby Federation, underscored the profound importance of the “Fili” stadium`s opening. He described it as a pivotal moment in the ongoing development of rugby across the entire country. “We now possess a modern arena that will serve as a true home for our teams and a compelling magnet for supporters,” Artemyev stated. “This project stands as a testament to how sports infrastructure should be effectively developed. The new stadium will undoubtedly inject a powerful impetus into Russian rugby, inspiring a new generation of athletes, and will continue to serve sports objectives with distinction for many years to come.”
