Hugh Bevan to join Leicester RFC in December.
Hugh Bevan, a prominent figure within the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), has announced his imminent departure from the organization. Come December, he will transition to the English club Leicester, where he is set to take on the significant role of Head of Rugby Operations.
Bevan joined the WRU in 2023 as interim Performance Director. During his tenure, he was instrumental in advancing both men`s and women`s rugby programs. His key responsibilities included spearheading preparations for both the men`s and women`s Rugby World Cups, as well as overseeing a comprehensive restructuring of the national player development pathways.
Prior to his spell with the Welsh Rugby Union, Bevan honed his expertise in the United States, where he held various senior positions, including Performance Director and interim General Manager. His extensive background also features leading physical performance at Ospreys, managing rugby operations at Dragons, and engaging in collaborative work with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
At Leicester, the 51-year-old specialist will be tasked with orchestrating all sports-related processes across the club. This includes managing the men`s, women`s, and academy programs. Head Coach Geoff Parling hailed Bevan`s appointment as a crucial stride towards establishing a robust new structure, while CEO Andrea Pinchen underscored that his vast experience would be vital in fortifying the club`s long-term developmental foundations.
