Thomas du Toit, the formidable prop and 2019 Rugby World Cup winner, has made a definitive decision to return to his homeland, South Africa.

The 30-year-old`s contract with English club Bath is set to expire this coming summer. He had received an offer from Bath to extend his tenure, while French Top 14 side Bordeaux also expressed significant interest in securing his services.

However, Du Toit ultimately declined proposals from both European clubs. His choice sees him moving to the Sharks, a Durban-based team, driven by his strong desire for his children to grow up in South Africa. This marks a return for Du Toit, who previously played for the Sharks between 2014 and 2023.

A seasoned international, Thomas du Toit has earned 30 caps for the Springboks. In addition to his 2019 Rugby World Cup triumph, he was part of the squad that won the 2025 Rugby Championship.
