Stay with Saracens or Move On?
Twenty-six-year-old flanker Tom Willis faces a significant career decision as his contract with Saracens is set to expire on June 30, 2026. Several prominent clubs are already showing keen interest in securing his services. Bath and Gloucester have reportedly made it a priority to attract the talented rugby player to their rosters, while a revitalized Newcastle has also openly declared its desire to see the flanker in their colours.
Willis`s past experience includes a stint in France`s Top 14 with Bordeaux, and the French club continues to monitor his situation, suggesting a potential return. This indicates a broad range of options for the forward.
Despite numerous offers from other clubs, Saracens are equally determined to retain Willis and plan to propose a new contract. A crucial factor in his decision-making process is the additional €180,000 per season he currently receives as part of the England national team player program. Should he opt for a move abroad, Tom Willis would undoubtedly forfeit these substantial earnings.
Furthermore, an international transfer would likely result in him losing his place in the “Red Roses” squad.
