The UEFA Women`s Champions League returns for a new season, promising to be its most competitive edition to date. With an updated format, new talent, and numerous strong contenders, Europe`s premier club competition is set for an exciting year.
Defending champions Arsenal are back in European contention, but they face stiff competition from other top clubs vying for the title. Barcelona, winners of three of the last five Champions League trophies, continue to be a powerhouse. Eight-time champions OL Lyonnes have refreshed their squad under new manager Jonatan Giraldez, with notable summer signings including USWNT midfielder Lily Yohannes.
This season will showcase many of football`s elite players. Barcelona boasts a three-time Ballon d`Or winner, while Arsenal`s Mariona Caldentey, the 2025 runner-up for the individual award, is also a key figure. Several U.S. Women`s National Team (USWNT) players are participating, including Lily Yohannes and Lindsey Heaps (club and country teammates), and Emily Fox, who was instrumental in Arsenal`s last triumph. New Chelsea signing Alyssa Thompson makes her Champions League debut, alongside USWNT colleagues Catarina Macario and Naomi Girma, as Chelsea pursues its inaugural title.
The grand finale is set for May 24 at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo. For the first time ever, every match of the tournament will be broadcast across CBS Sports platforms.
