Yael Trepy, the 20-year-old French player for Cagliari, has emerged from the coma he was placed in after a near-drowning incident. He is still hospitalized in intensive care.
Reassuring news has emerged regarding Yael Trepy. After being in an artificial coma for 48 hours following a near-drowning, the 20-year-old Frenchman regained consciousness on Tuesday. His club, Cagliari (Serie A), released a medical bulletin from the Sassari hospital where the forward has been admitted since Sunday.
The bulletin stated, "He is alert and cooperative and, at present, shows no apparent neurological deficits. His respiratory and hemodynamic parameters are stable." Yael Trepy remains hospitalized and "continues to be under close clinical and respiratory monitoring," according to the statement issued by the Italian club.
"Days that seemed endless": Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini expresses relief.
Tommaso Giulini, the president of Cagliari, conveyed his relief upon hearing the positive update. "There are days that seem endless. Then news arrives and changes everything. The news we were waiting for has just arrived. Step by step, Yael, all together," the executive wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
"You are strong Yael, we can't wait to see you soon," the young Frenchman's club reacted soberly on its social media.
On Sunday, Yael Trepy was admitted to intensive care after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at a villa in northern Sardinia. After ingesting a large amount of water into his lungs, he was placed in an artificial coma.
