Arsenal Secures Pre-Season Friendly Victory Over Como in Penalty Shootout

Bruno Guimaraes made his debut at the Emirates Stadium and successfully converted a penalty as Arsenal continued their pre-season preparations with a shootout victory against Italian club Como.

The midfielder, acquired for £75 million from Newcastle, participated in the second half of a competitive friendly match, where Arsenal fans had the opportunity to see both new and familiar faces in the midfield.

Como achieved their most successful Serie A season last year under the management of former Arsenal favorite Cesc Fabregas, securing fourth place and qualification for the Champions League.

Fabregas, who played for Arsenal as a midfielder between 2003 and 2011, won the FA Cup in 2005 and reached the finals of the Champions League in 2006 and the EFL Cup in 2007.

Gabriel Jesus and Eberechi Eze featured for only 32 minutes before being substituted as Mikel Arteta managed his squad carefully.

Shortly after, Lewis-Skelly scored with a side-footed effort, capitalizing on an error in Como's defense where a clearance was blocked.

The versatile player, who has been linked with a potential move away from the Gunners this summer, celebrated by touching the club's badge on his shirt and gesturing towards the fans.

The Italian team managed to equalize before halftime, with Martin Baturina finding the net after an impressive display of footwork.

Guimaraes was brought on at halftime, and fellow substitute Noni Madueke came close to scoring in a more fragmented second half.

Kai Havertz appeared to score late in the game, but the goal was disallowed, leading to a penalty shootout after the match concluded at a 1-1 draw.

England defender Trevoh Chalobah, who recently joined Como from Chelsea, was on the bench for the Italian side, as was former Spain international Alvaro Morata.

Morata missed his penalty, as did Madueke, before new signing Christos Tzolis scored the decisive penalty to secure the win.

Arsenal is now set to face Enzo Maresca and Manchester City in the FA Community Shield match on Sunday.
