PSG v Man United: Line ups, stats and preview

August 8, 2026Carlos Mendoza2 мин

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has commended the "quality" and "mentality" of his academy players as the team prepares for a second friendly match without many of its senior squad members. PSG is set to face Manchester United in Gothenburg.

Following a 3-0 defeat to Mallorca on Wednesday, Luis Enrique described the first half of that match as "interesting." He acknowledged that making a definitive assessment is difficult, stating, "It’s not the result we would have liked, but that’s football. When you play against Paris Saint-Germain, it’s a source of motivation for every team. That’s only natural. It’s our first week of pre-season… it’s to be expected. We’re waiting for our international players to return before we can really see what our team looks like."

In their recent fixture, Michael Carrick's Manchester United side came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory against Atletico de Madrid in Stockholm. Bryan Mbeumo scored both goals for United.

Carrick, who has guided his team back to the Champions League, believes that the squad's "spirit and camaraderie" are significant positives observed during pre-season. He told MUTV, "It is such a great group to work with in terms of the spirit to work with each other, [to let] us help them and guide them. We had six-and-a-half weeks away from the players, so it’s a long time compared to what I am used to. We are enjoying work and I am looking forward to the season. It’s great to see the boys getting on so naturally and enjoying each other’s company."
